I love this piece! What an amazing way to harness anxiety about medical conditions. I used to cross-stitch, but my eyes are not that sharp anymore. I’m happy with embroidery. You inspire me.

I can relate after becoming chronically ill 20 yrs ago as I slowly recovered (but not fully) may never...I sewed all the time, everything and anything. Then I got sick. Once I was able to consecrate I decided to pick up crochet. I've done many pieces of whatever. I freeform, making it up at I go along. Frontwards, backwards, sideways and all different stitches. All colorways. It was relaxing and something to do that I didn't have to read instructions to all day. I could never just sit and lay around, or watch TV from the sofa, I still have many bad days, but well days I create.

This aligns with my experience too. Sewing is much more restorative than just watching TV or even reading. In the evenings I often work on simpler visible mending projects since my embroideries have gotten so intricate.

Just WOW! Being a human is complex but being a woman is daringly courageous. I read this like I was in a trance, as your experience reminded me of my own bout with fibroids, anemia, infusion treatments and ultimately a hysterectomy in my early 40s. Bless you and I’m glad for you to have some relief. What a beautifully cathartic way to share your story.

Lia, this is stunning. The story and the embroidery and how they weave together. Creating art while being ill as a sacred act. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's divine. xoxo
